Artist Statement

Natalie creates art as a form of self-exploration as a woman and an artist, and to discover new meanings in contemporary social issues through retelling and revisiting personal insecurities through Art. She is motivated and inspired conceptually by artists like Edouard Manet and Sarah Lucas, whose works allude to trivialised issues in the everyday. As such, her artistic practice is highly influenced by day-to-day dilemmas and overlooked matters.  When creating art, she introspects on her own personal worries and reflect upon how meanings and common understandings were ascribed. She has started using contemporary elements, such as ready-mades, in her works, and expanding her artistic arsenal by recontextualising commodities for her art.
